The Cairngorms
The Northern Cairngorms are on our doorstep providing Munros such as Cairngorm, Ben Macdui and the mighty Braeriach with its complex series of deep corries and ridges. It forms, along with Cairn Toul, the most extensive area of high plateau in Britain.
Lochnagar
Creag Meagaidh
A little further down the road (45 minutes) there is Creag Meagaidh with the spectacular Coire Ardair and its massive cliffs (500m/1600ft).
Ben Nevis

Glen Coe
Approximately 90 minutes driving brings you to Glen Coe and the Aonach Eagach ridge, which is arguably the most sensational scramble on the Scottish mainland.
Torridon (Wester Ross)
90 minutes drive north west will take you into what is well recognised as some of the best mountain scenery in the British Isles, Torridon, providing such classic ridges as Liathach, Beinn Eighe, Beinn Alligin, and the incredibly spectacular An Teallach.

There are also many areas of outstanding beauty for lower level walks such as:

Abernethy forest - one of the last remaining remnants of the ancient forest of Caledon owned by the RSPB. The Osprey centre here is also open early in Spring for birdspotters to observe the Capercaillie "lec" without disturbing them.
