This 3 day course is for those who are looking to progress their winter skills to incorporate easy grade winter climbs into their winter mountain day without the burden of all the equipment required for more technical climbs.

This is a course for those who have already attended a winter skills course and aspire to move onto steep uncomplicated snow and ice covered ground which requires the use of a rope.

After an initial refreshment of the basic winter skills this course focuses on looking at various types of basic winter anchors and belays, along with the necessary rope-work, etc that allow you to safe guard yourself on this grade of terrain.

This course requires that you have already attended a winter skills course as well as the requisite fitness for 2 fairly demanding days in the winter mountains. Some basic rock climbing experience would be helpful but not compulsory. This course allows you the opportunity to give your winter mountain days a real mountaineering flavour. The intension on this weekend course is to complete a grade 1 gulley and possibly an easy ridge route.
